After that, Estrada reached the area with a great counter and Kota saved the shot. Cota stopped Antuna’s shot from close range and cleared Romero’s shot again. It was the last play as Cruz Azul earned a well-deserved win and a ticket to the quarterfinals.

Cruz Azul didn’t put in their best performance, but they were a better team overall and the win was well-deserved. León failed many fights, with Cruz Azul goalkeeper Jesús Coronan claiming that León keeper Rodolfo had the match in his hands, unlike Cota making an incredible save as he kept the match 1–0. The entire match didn’t require him to make a single challenging save. Cruz Azul had many opportunities wasted by players like Antuna and Carneiro. If they want to go further into the playoffs, they need to improve significantly. Cruz Azul awaits rivals either Santos or Monterrey, depending on the outcome of Sunday’s match between Toluca and his FC Juárez.
