The Sunday edition of NHL Rumors features the Dallas Stars, Buffalo Sabers and Philadelphia Flyers.
Dallas Stars – Jake Ettinger
Rumor: Per – Greg Wyshynski – ESPN.com. Could Jake Ettinger be a future goal for the Dallas Stars?
Oettinger was in the limelight last season in the playoff series against the Calgary Flames. He managed to keep the star in the series by stopping 272 of his 285 shots, including 64 of 67 in the decisive Game 7.
GM Jim Nill said of his young netminder:
“Probably one of the biggest questions when we started the series was whether a young goalie got Stanley Cup playoff action for the first time.” Nil said. “This resume is not very long. how is he going to handle it? Looking back now, I have never seen a young man enjoy the moment as much as he did. He loved being online. “
Realizing they had a talented young goalkeeper, the Stars decided on September 1 to sign Ettinger, a restricted free agent expiring in 2025, to a $4 million AAV contract. He’s worth that good contract.
According to Neil “He’s a player with high-end character, and he’s our future.
Buffalo Sabers – The Sabers are on the right track to becoming a competitor.
Rumors: – By Stephen Ellis – Dailyfaceoff.com. There’s a lot to love about the future of the Buffalo Sabers.
After years of fruitless times, Buffalo acquired Rasmus Darling (2018) and Owen Power (2021) to earn their first overall pick in years. With the addition of Jack Quinn (2020), J.J. Peterka (2020) and Dylan Cozens (2019), this year’s roster is beginning to deliver on the successful draft results of recent years.
And not including Peyton Krebs, 21, whom the team acquired in the Jack Eichel trade, and Matthias Samuelsson, who just signed a seven-year deal this week. Their youth is evident as they sport the youngest opening night roster in the NHL with an average age of 25.58.
There are good reasons for optimism in western New York. The Sabers aren’t looking to take big strides anytime soon, but that’s fine. With coach Don Granato and GM Kevin Adams both being given extensions over the past few weeks, the organization feels it has the right people in charge.
Well, let’s see how all of this holds up as the new season unfolds. Their future is bright.

Philadelphia Flyers – Wayne Simmons
Rumor: Per – Mike Stephens – thehockeynews.com. Wayne Simmonds could be just what the Flyers need in their culture.
Simmons is certainly on his way out of Toronto and could add his physicality to Philly’s lineup.
He may have lost some speed, but he can put fear in the eyes of his opponents when he’s heading towards them. It seems like a match. Simmons’ return to Philadelphia could be homecoming, where he played eight seasons from 2011-2019.
For now, he’s waiting to see what his future holds.
