Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Research Associate with a background in Maternal Health Nutrition or Maternal Health. The postholder will direct a research portfolio focused on maternal health and nutrition. This portfolio includes a range of quantitative and qualitative studies aimed at advancing our understanding of maternal health and nutrition, and interventions aimed at improving outcomes for women before and during pregnancy. I’m here. This includes women at increased risk, such as obese women and pregnant women with diabetes.
Postholder is an early career researcher in the Department of Nutritional Sciences with expertise and several publications including:
• Clinical trials of human nutritional interventions, eg, diet, lifestyle, or combined diet/lifestyle/pharmacological interventions.
• Public health nutrition (life course nutrition, maternal nutrition, nutritional epidemiology, etc.).
They have published research in international peer-reviewed journals and have been involved in research supervision.
They are expected to collaborate translationally with other researchers within departments, schools, departments, the wider university, and nationally and internationally.
In addition, postholders contribute to teaching, deliver lectures and tutorials, and supervise undergraduate (BSc) and graduate (MSc) project students.
The post is jointly based in the Departments of Nutrition and Dietetics (Faculty of Life Sciences Education) and Nutritional Sciences (Faculty of Life Courses and Population Sciences) of the School of Life Sciences and Medicine. The postholders report directly to Prof. Kevin Whelan, Head of Nutritional Sciences, Prof. Paul Sharp, Head of Nutrition and Dietetics, and Dr. Angela Flynn, Lecturer in Nutritional Sciences.

This position is offered on a fixed term contract of 7 months or upon return of the effective position holder. Maternity cover post.
This is a full-time post – 100% full-time equivalent / 35 hours per week
primary responsibility
research
Postholders are expected to direct research on maternal health and nutrition. Also this:
• We are working on maternal health and nutrition projects, including observational studies, clinical trials and qualitative research.
• Collaborate on national and international research projects within King’s College London and King’s Health Partners.
• Contribute to the production of quality research papers.
• Supervision/co-supervision of BSc, MSc and PhD students.
education
• Module leadership.
• Provide instructors and tutorials and engage in student feedback and evaluation.
management
• Undertake administrative tasks to facilitate the smooth running of educational and research activities.
Other duties:
• Attend relevant meetings.
• Other duties commensurate with the rank of the post as directed by the line manager/supervisor.

Mandatory criteria
1. PhD in relevant field of study.
2. Records of peer-reviewed publications in international standard journals.
3. Quantitative and qualitative research experience.

desirable criteria
1. Teaching and assessment experience in nutrition, dietetics, or related biological sciences in higher education.
2. Experience teaching undergraduate or graduate students.

Please note that although this is a PhD level role, candidates who have submitted a thesis and are awaiting the award of their PhD will be considered. In such circumstances, the appointment will be made at Grade 5, Spine Points 30, and will be titled Research Her Assistant. Once the PhD award is confirmed, the position will be changed to Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.

The school brings together more than 400 of her experts in women’s and children’s health, nutritional sciences, population health, and the molecular genetics of human disease. It is one of the largest schools in its faculty with great potential to further exploit synergies in population health across the university. Its research connects the causes of common health problems to epoch-making stages of life and treats life, disease and health care as a continuum.

At REF2021, King’s UOA3 ranked #1 in terms of percentage of overall submissions ranked 4* out of 89 submissions, and #1 in GPA and power rankings. 100% of the environments were rated 4* and 100% of the impacts were rated 3* or 4*.
